Meeting with Raksha Mantri on 21 Nov 2013



A delegation of Indian Ex- Services League headed by Lt Gen Balbir Singh, PVSM, VSM**, President IESL, comprising of AVM R P Mishra, Col Karan Yadav, SM, Gen Secy IESL and  Cdr B D Sharma, Treasurer, IESL met with Shri A K Antony, Hon'ble Raksha Mantri of India on 21st Nov 2013 at 1100 hrs in his office. The Hon'ble Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation.

On this occasion President IESL also presented a Cheque of Rs 1,00,000.00 for the Chief Minister Uttrakhand  Relief Fund.  The issues raised along with the photographs of the occasion are reproduced below.



POINTS FOR CONSIDERATION OF DEFENCE MINISTER
:  21 NOV 2013


·         One Rank One Pension/Parity in Pension.

·         Down gradation of Military Status/ equation.

·         NFU status be made applicable to Defence Service Officers in the same way as applied to civil counter parts.

·         Anomalies of 6th CPC.

·         Pension for World War II Veterans/Widows.

·         IESL was a member of SCOVA. The membership has since been cancelled. It must be revived.

·         Structured quarterly meetings may be held by Secretary DESW with members of Veterans Organisations. MD ECHS and Secretary Rajya Sainik Board may be requested to be present.

·         Pharmacy Services in ECHS clinics may be outsourced.     

·         Appeals against AFT/Court Judgments wrt Veterans Welfare may be avoided. Presently MOD is becoming compulsive litigant against ESM welfare related, e.g, case of Hony Nb/Subs.
 









Meeting with GOC



Lt Gen Balbir Singh, PVSM,VSM**, President IESL called on GOC Delhi Area on 30 Oct 2013. The following points were taken for the consideration:-

(a)    VAT- Lt Gen balbir Singh, PVSM,VSM**, President IESL apprised GOC Delhi Area that IESL has taken up the case with Chief Minister of Delhi for removal of VAT from CSD, as is the case with Haryana and Rajasthan. He urged the GOC to take up a similar case with Govt of Delhi.
(b)   Office for IESL Delhi in TAURUS Canteen. The GOC was apprised that earlier IESL Delhi had an office in the TAURUS complex. After the renovation of TAURUS complex however, the same has not been handed back. The GOC assured President IESL that he would look into the matter.
(c)    Voters Registration. It is learnt that more that 23000 service personnel have registered for elections from Delhi Cantt.

Meeting with DGR



Lt Gen Balbir Singh, PVSM,VSM**, President IESL met the DGR on 07 Nov 2013. The following points were discussed.

(a)    Distribution List. DGR was requested to include IESL on the distribution list, so that necessary orders and relevant welfare schemes for the veterans could be disseminated by IESL through out the country through our vast communication network for the welfare of veterans. DGR assured that  necessary action would be taken at the earliest.

(b)   Pamphlets/Booklets/Posters. Maj Gen Amrik Singh, DGR assured President IESL that he will issue sufficient quantities of welfare related schemes material to IESL for the dissemination to the veterans, through our channels.  

Ex-Servicemen Week



WREATH LAYING AT AMAR JAWAN JYOTI INDIA GATE- 25 SEP 2013
This major event of paying homage to our departed comrades was conducted with full military ethos on 25 Sep 2013. Wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti on behalf of all Veterans was laid by Lt Gen Balbir Singh, PVSM, VSM** President IESL. On the occasion we had a large number of Veterans (15 Officers and 50 JCOs/Ors) of the Three Services who graced the occasion. It was an impressive ceremony with full decorum and panache. The ceremony was watched and admired with awe by a large number of civilians, who witnessed the show.  After the function at Amar Jwan Jyoti the Veterans joined at IESL HQ for a cup of tea where discussions on service life and reminiscences were exchanged.   Photographs taken on the ocassion are reproduced below.
